Product Aftercare
A little guidance.

General Maintenance
Our products are generally low maintenance. Be respectful to the wood by protecting it from hot mugs and plates using suitable coasters. For standard spills and everyday cleaning, a damp cloth should suffice.
Gentle cleaning products should also be fine, but we cannot guide whether a certain product would or would not cause damage to the table due to there being so many different cleaning products available. A good general guide would be to use as natural a cleaning product as possible, avoiding harsh chemicals - especially any product containing bleach.
Using a standard spray polish or beeswax can also be beneficial to build up an extra protective layer, but is not essential. Also, please keep the wood products out of direct sunlight wherever possible to avoid or lessen any possible fading over time. -
Heat Sources
We respectfully ask you to avoid placing our new or rustic reclaimed wood products close to direct heat sources such as radiators and range cookers, or hot environments such as in conservatories or above underfloor heating. Although we take every care to ensure that the wood is of a consistent moisture level and well sealed, we cannot ensure that the product will withstand extreme or prolonged exposure to heat, and exposure to bright sunlight can result in colour fading. Wood is a natural product and must be respected as such.
If you haven't done so already, please read our wood product disclaimers section, as this will help you to better understand our products. -
Going Beyond
Going beyond the initial few days, it is advisable to care for the wood periodically by rubbing over lightly with fine grade sand paper or wire wool, and apply a new layer of clear soft wax. To apply the new layer of wax, lightly charge a clean paintbrush with your chosen clear soft wax and work into the wood. Start off little by little to avoid over-waxing. You should apply just enough to 'buff' the surface with the fresh wax, rather than liberally applying thick layers.
Freshening up the top layer of wax in this way will help to remove any debris collected from use and keep the table looking it's best. It'll also help to manage stable temperature and moisture levels, which is good for the wood.
If you have purchased a product from us before, please contact us and we'll let you know of our favoured type and brand of wax to use.
